About Neoprene

Neoprene is a synthetic rubber foam that results from the polymerization of chloroprene. This material is known as a general-purpose elastomer with flex cracking resistance, a low compression set and high resilience and abrasion. Neoprene is resistant to various substances, including:

Working With Neoprene Rubber

There are two primary ways to cut neoprene for parts fabrication — neoprene die cutting and foam laser cutting. At American Micro Industries, we have the tools and experience to do both. Our custom fabricating capabilities allow us to die cut and laser cut neoprene to your exact specifications for the most individualized results.

We begin the die cutting process by creating a metal die that takes on the shape you desire. Then, we press the die through the neoprene to produce your custom shape. Die cutting is generally the better choice for thin sheets of neoprene. For thicker sheets or tolerances of less than 1/16-inch, we recommend our laser cutting procedure instead.

When we laser cut neoprene, your design data is input into our computer numerical control (CNC) laser cutter using programs such as AutoCAD. These programs enable us to create 3D renderings and designs to craft parts that fit your needs. Our advanced digital technologies allow us to manufacture precise shapes with exceptionally clean edges.
